Non permanent Facial fillers

With the health scare regarding PIP implants and the use of industrial silicone, we hear through the media that the patients concerned had done their research, but was this economic or scientific, personally I think it is the former. There are two types of facial filler commonly used today either permanent(silicone) or non-permanent facial fillers(hyaluronic acid, from Juvederm and Restylane)The latter are absorbed by the body without side effects , the former is adsorbed in the cellular tissue and remain with you.Watch this space for the long term effects.Clinically I will only use Juvederm or Restylane.
The same is true for Dental implants, we here people say they have done their research and are presenting for remedial work with implants we have never heard of and cannot repair, placed in third world counties or the former eastern block. The world class implant systems currently used include Noble Biocare, 3i,Straumann,Astra, to name a few. These are expensive as they are produced by world class leading industries ,but with that we as clinicians are reassured by their quality and back up.
The old adage ‘if it is too good to be true’ certainly applies.Research for quality, not price.
